Human Trafficking in Ethiopia
 

Ethiopia is known to be one of the top countries for facing human trafficking these days. According to global slavery index report in 2013  in recent years Ethiopia has seen a rapid increase in outward migration, with millions of Ethiopians travelling throughout Africa and overseas, mostly to Gulf States and the Middle East, to find work. Every year, 80,0000 Ethiopians make journey to Saudi Arabia through Yemen. Government body which is facilitating this phenomena is The Ethiopian Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, . It is reported that it reviewed and approved 198, 000 contracts for overseas employment, predominately for domestic workers in 2012. Irregular migration, including migration facilitated by illegal brokers, makes up 60 – 70%. In addition to this, The journey they have to pass through is not safe and includes a lot of suffering. many Ethiopia migrants are subjected to suffering, injury, rape and death during their journey.  Many will be hijacked and requested for money or else they will be killed and their organs will be sold illegally. However, still this day many chose to pass through his dangerous journey willing to risk their life. But why?

There are a lot of reasons for resulting and facilitating migration of citizens of Ethiopia. However, one way or another each cause or reason revolves around the action of the government in power and its supporters. For the past 23 years Ethiopia is ruled by this dictatorship, where freedom of speech, political freedom, equality, justice has been anything but way far from the people. Whereas, corruption,  jailing & killing innocent people, stilling peoples vote during election, forced eviction from ones own land and many more has been very common to be observed in the society. We see government officials sitting and running offices which is beyond their skill and education just because they are member of TPLF. Due to this and many other constraints, dreams of  educated and potential  youth is being shattered everyday.

Unfortunately, it became very hard to overthrow current government peacefully and by force. The results of the past four election taking place during this past 23 years show that the government is not willing to negotiate power peacefully. To make things worse on the last elections result, the government clearly showed that there are no room for sayings of political opposition parties opinion by making sure all the seats except one being taken by TPLF. Everyone can clearly see that how shallow the strategy of the government is for improvements.

In addition to that, money donated by the western world and world bank in the name of children and women, food security, education,  has empowered the government to construct number of jails, machine guns, upgrade intelligence securities which stands for protecting TPLF rather than protecting the country and its people. We can refer to the near occasion where world bank interest for auditing the fund released for Ethiopia has been rejected by current prime minister Hailemariyam Desallege.  I believe this is tangible evidence to question the transparency of the government. 

Therefore, many youth will try to find their way out for freedom by hock or by crock. Even if it means traveling one of the most dangerous journeys in the world risking ones own life. Sadly, until Ethiopia is free from this tyran, ears and eyes of Ethiopians along with the rest of the world will keep on witnessing the consequences of the causes and Ethiopia will keep on losing children day by day.

 

 

 

 

 

ማየት ማመን ነው በሚል የኢትዮጵያውያንን የስደት ስቃይ የሚያሳይ የፎቶ ኤግዚብሽን እና የቪዲዮ ቅንብር በኖርዌ ኦስሎ ከተማ ተካሄደ

የዲሞክራሲያዊ ለውጥ በኢትዮጵያ ድጋፍ ድርጅት ኖርዌ የሴቶችና ወጣቶች ክፍል በሐገራችን ኢትዮጵያ የሰዎች የህገወጥ ዝውውርን በተመለከተና ሰዎች ከሃገራቸው ለምን እንደሚሰደዱ እንዲሁም የስደትን አስከፊነት የሚያሳይ የፎቶ ኤግዚብሽንና ቪዲዮ በDiakonhjemmet university college Oslo በFebruary 14, 2014 ለኖርዌጅያንና የተለያየ ሐገር ዜግነት ላላቸው ተማሪዎች አቀረቡ።

ይህ የፎቶ ኤግዚብሽን ዋና አላማው በሐገራችን ኢትዮጵያ በወያኔ የአገዛዝ ዘመን የህገወጥ የሰዎች ዝውውር ቁጥሩ በከፍተኛ ደረጃ እየጨመረ በመምጣቱና ዜጎች በሐገራቸው ለመኖር የሚያስችላቸው መልካም አስተዳደር ስለሌለ የሰብአዊ መብት ጥሰቱ ከእለት ወደ እለት እየጨመረ በመምጣቱ ዜጎች የወያኔ አባል ካልሆኑ በስተቀር ተምረው የስራ እድል ስለማያገኙ፤ የመናገርና የመፃፍ መብታቸው በመገደቡ፤ ዜጎች ያለምንም ቅድመ ሁኔት መሬታቸውን እየተነጠቁ ለውጭ ሐገር ባለሃብቶች በመሸጡ  ተለዋጭ ነገር ሳያገኙ ለጎዳና ህይወት በመዳረጋቸው፤ በዘራቸው ምንክያት በሚደርስባቸው ተፅኖ  እንዲሁም በፖለቲካ አመለካከታቸው በሚደርስባቸው ከፍተኛ እስር፤ ግርፋትና እንግልት ሳቢያ ሐገራቸውን ለቀው ለመሰደድ ይገደዳሉ። ገዢው መንግስት ህጋዊ የሚላቸው ነገር ግን ህጋዊ ያልሆኑ 250 ኤጀንሲዎችን አቋቁሞ ፍቃድ በመስጠት የዜጎች ሽያጭ በስፋት እንዲያከናውኑ እያደረገ ይገኛል። እነኚህ ኤጀንሲ ተብዬዎች በአብዛኛው እድሜያቸው ለስራ ያልደረሱ ህፃናት ልጆችን ሳይቀር በገጠሪቱ የሃገራችን ክፍል የሚገኙ ወገኖቻችንን በመመልመል የራሳቸውን ኪስ ለማደለብ ለሽያጭ ያቀርባሉ።

ሰዎች ከሐገራቸው እንዲሰደዱ ዋናውን ሚና እየተጫወተ ያለው አምባገነኑ የወያኔ መንግስት ሲሆን እነዚህ ስደተኞች በመንገድ ላይ የሰውነት ብልታቸው ከውስጣቸው እየተወሰደ ሲሽጥ፤ በየመንገዱ ሲሞቱ፤ ሴቶች እህቶቻችን ተገደው ሲደፈሩ፤ ሲደበደቡ፤ የፈላ ውሃና ዘይት በላያቸው ሲደፋ፤ ከፎቅ ተወርውረው ሲሞቱ፤ በየኢምባሲው ደጃፍ ሲጎተቱ፤ አእምሮአቸውን ስተው በየጎዳናው እራቁታቸውን እየሄዱ መሳለቂያ ሲሆኑ በየሃገሩ አምባሳደር ተብለው የተወከሉት ግን ምንም አይነት ወገናዊ ስሜት የሌላቸው በመሆኑ ለወከሉት ህዝብ ከለላ መስጠት ሳይችሉ በተቃራኒው ለአረቦቹ ወግነው ሲናገሩ ይታያሉ። ሐገር ውስጥም ለሚደረገው ህገወጥ ዝውውር ገዢው ፓርቲ ትኩረት ሰጥቶ ባለመከታተሉ ወይም እያየ ዝም በማለቱ ሰዎች በኮንቴነር እንደ እቃ እየታጨቁ የብዙዎች ህይወት ማለፉ ይታወቃል። እነኚህ ከላይ የጠቀስናቸው ችግሮች በሙሉ እየተፈፀመብን ያለው በአምባገነኑ የወያኔ መንግስት መሆኑን ለአለም ለማጋለጥ ማየት ማመን ነው በሚል የወገኖቻችንን ስቃይ ከሐገር ሲወጡ ጀምሮ በመንገድና በደረሱበት ቦታ ሁሉ የሚደርስባቸውን ስቃይና እንግልት የሚያሳየውን የፎቶ ኤግዚብሽን እና ቪዲዮ ፕሮግራም ለማቅረብ የወሰነው።

ዝግጅቱ በኖርዌጅያን የሰአት አቆጣጠር ከጠዋቱ 08፤45 በትምህርት ቤቱ መምህር እና በእኛ በኩል በዶ/ር ሙሉአለም አዳም የመክፈቻ  ንግግር ሲሆን፤ በመቀጠል ተማሪዎቹ ፎቶዎቹን እየተዘዋወሩ የተመለከቱ ሲሆን አዘጋጆቹም ስለፎቶዎቹ ማብራሪያ ሰጥተዋል። ከ15 ደቂቃ እረፍት በኋላ የቪዲዮ ፕሮግራም የቀረበ ሲሆን ይህ ቪዲዮ መምህራኑን ጨምሮ ተማሪዎቹን ያስለቀሰ ሲሆን አንዳንዶቹ ለማየት አቅም በማጣታቸው አዳራሹን ለቀው የወጡም ነበሩ ከቪዲዮ በኋላ ተማሪዎቹ የተሰማቸውን ስሜት ሲገልፁ መንግስታችን በዚህ የሰዎች ንግድ ውስጥ መሳተፉ ያሳዘናት መሆኑን አንዲት ተማሪ ገልፃለች። አዘጋጅ ወጣቶችም የኖርዌጂያን መንግስት ለኢትዮጵያ  የሚሰጠውን ገንዘብ ማቆም እንዳለበትና የወያኔ መንግስት የሚያገኘውን የእርዳታ ገንዘብ መሳሪያ ለመግዛት እና ህዝቦችን ለመጨቆን እየተጠቀመበት በመሆኑ በስልጣን ላይ እንዲቆይ እገዛ እያደረጉ በመሆኑ እኛ በሃገራችን ዲሞክራሲያዊ ለውጥ ለማምጣት እና ይህንን ጨቋኝ   አገዛዝ ለመጣል በምናደርገው ትግል እንቅፋት ሆኖ ያስቸገረን በመሆኑ የኖርዌጂያን ሰዎች የሚለግሱት ገንዘባቸው ለምን ተግባር እንደሚውል እንዲያውቁና ተማሪዎቹም መንግስታቸውን እንዲጠይቁ እንዲሁም ለሚያውቋቸው ሁሉ ያዩት እንዲያስረዱላቸው ጠይቀዋል።

በመጨረሻም መምህራኑ ለአዘጋጆቹ ምስጋና አቅርበው ፕሮግራሙ በኖርዌጅያን የሰአት አቆጣጠር 11፡00

የሱዳን መንግስት ኢትዮጵያውያንን ከመኖርያ ቤታቸው በኣንድ ሳምንት ውስጥ እንዲለቁ ማዘዙ ታወቀ፡፡..

የሱዳን መንግስት ተግባር እየተፈፀመ ያለው በምንሊክና በእንግሊዝ መንግስታት ድንበር ብለው ከከለሉት ቦታ ፷ ኪሎሜትር ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ድንበር ገብቶ የሚገኝ ንጉዲ ከሚባል የኢትዮጵያ ሉኣላዊ ግዛት እንደሆነ የሑመራ ኑዋሪዎች ገልፀዋል፡፡ በእንግሊዝና ምንሊክ ግዜ እንደ ተፈጥሮኣዊ ድንበር ተደርጎ የነበረው ቦታ ባህረ ሰላም የተባለ ሃይቅ እንደሆነ የገለፁት ኑዋሪዎቹ ኣሁን የሱዳን መንግስት ግዛቴ ነው ልቀቁልኝ እያለ ያለው ከድንበሩ ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ፷ ኪሎሜትር ወደ ውስጥ ገብታ ከምትገኝ ንጉዲ የተባለች መንደር ኑዋሪ የሆኑት ኢትዪጵያውያንን ነው፡፡

ከቅርብ ኣመታት ወዲህ የሱዳን መንግስት ከባህረ ሰላም ወደ ውስጥ እየገባ ለእርሻ ልማት የሚውሉ ግድቦች እየገነባ እንዳለና የኢትዮጵያ መንግስት የሃገራችን መሬት እየተወረረ እያየ እነዳላየ መሆን ከማስገረም ኣልፎ እንዳበሳጫቸው ይገልፃሉ፡፡ ከሁሉም በላይ ደግሞ ሰሙኑን ሰለ ኢትዮ፡ ሱዳን የድንበር ጉዳይ ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ሃይለማርያም ደሳለኝ ተጠይቀው የሰጡት ምላሽ ምንም የተፈጠረ ኣዲስ ነገር እንደሌለ መግለፃቸው በመንግስት የነበራቸው እምነት እንዲጠራጠሩ ማድረጉን ያብራራሉ፡፡

ከሑመራ ገዳሪፍ የሚወስደው የኣስፋልት መንገድ ግንባታ ኢትዮጵያ እንድታቆም በሱዳን የኣካባቢው ኣስተዳዳሪዎች ጠይቀው ስራው ቆሞ እንደነበርም ያክላሉ፡፡ የኢትዮጵያና የሱዳን መንግስታት በድንበር ጉዳይ በድብቅ ተደራድረው ሱዳን ከ፴ እስከ ፷ ኪሎሜትር ከኢትዮጵያ መሬት እንደተሰጣት ሲገለፅ መኖሩ የሚታወስ ነው፡፡

ዓረና ከሑመራና ኣከባቢዋ ኑዋሪ ህዝብ ውይይት ለማድረግ በጠራው ህዝባዊ ስብሰባ ህዝቡ በጉጉት ጠብቆ እንደነበር፣ የድንበር ጉዳዩ መፍትሄ እንዲያገኝ ተፅእኖ ያደርጋል ብለው ተስፋ ሲያደርጉ መንግስት ስብሰባው እንዳይካሄድ መደረጉ እንዳሳዘናቸው ገልፀዋል፡፡ ይህ የተደረገውም መንግስት የህዝቡ መነሳሳት ኣይቶ እንደ ሆነ ብቁጭት ይገልፃሉ፡፡
እነዚህ ከመኖርያ ቤታቸውና ከሃገራቸው በባእድ ሃገር መንግስት ሊፈናቀሉ ቀነ ገደብ የተሰጣቸው ዜጎች ሳይንገላቱና ሳይፈናቀሉ ልንደርሰላቸው ይገባል፡፡
እንደነ ኣፄ ዮውሃንስ የመሰሉ ሃገር ወዳድ ዜጎች ውድ ሂወታቸው የሰዉለት ዳር ድንበር ለማስከበር መላ ኢትዮጵያዊ በኣንድነት መነሳት የግድ ይለናል።

Call for Protest! TPLF to hand out Ethiopian territory to Sudan

We shall not keep quiet while TPLF displaces Ethiopian people and hand out territory to Sudan!!!

The anti-Ethiopia TPLF regime is making its final preparation to hand over 1200 km of legitimate Ethiopian territory to Sudan to please its ally in dictatorship– the war criminal Al Bashir. This border for which our great fathers paid in blood and our poor Ethiopian people are being displaced from is being given out in a secret deal without the knowledge and approval of the Ethiopian people. Such a treasonous act cannot and should not be allowed to happen. It is every Ethiopian’s, especially those living abroad in the free world, historical and moral obligation to let the Sudanese people as well as the entire world know that this deal is illegal and invalid, that the Ethiopian people will, sooner or later, do all needed to get it back.

Let us all come out and be a voice to our voiceless people by attending these historical protests at the Sudanese and later at the Woyane-TPLF Embassy

COLONIALIZM Vs FREDDOM IN HISTORY OF ETHIOPIA

In my point of view the history of Ethiopia, colonialism and fighting 

for freedom and unity have long relation in the nation’s history .Literal definition of 

colonialism is exploitation by a stronger country of weaker one or the use of the weaker 

country's resources to strengthen and enrich the stronger country. In addition to this, 

policy and practice of a power in extending control over weaker peoples or areas is also 

categorized as colonialism.

I just wanted to mention some of these leaders to elaborate the aspect.

Ethiopia was reunified in 1855 by Tewodros II, It was the beginning of Ethiopia's modern 

history. As great leader of Ethiopia he among with heroes of his times was able to defend 

the country from an Egyptian invasion in 1874.

A more rapid modernization took place under Menelik II. Under Menelik II Ethiopia 

defeated Italian invasion in 1896 and came to be recognized as a legitimate state by 

European powers.

HAILE SELASSIE

Haile Selassie, who is historical leader to lay foundation for African Union. The modern 

Italian army annexed Ethiopia in 1935 and combined it with its other colonies to create 

Italian East Africa, forcing Haile Selassie to flee out of the country. Haile Selassie 

addresses the matter for the whole world and UN at that time. A joined force of British 

and Ethiopian rebels managed to drive the Italians out of the country in 1941, and Haile 

Selassie was returned to the throne.

This and many other leaders of our own has played their role as a great leader .However, 

in contrary to these leaders, EPRDF or TPLF is implementing controlling mechanism of 

the country by means of internal colonialism. 

Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF)/ The Ethiopian People's Revolutionary 

Democratic Front The current government of Ethiopia (EPRDF) come to power in 1991 

G.C. Since, they came to power start destabilize the country by implementing internal 

colonialism and dividing the people by their ethnical group, making the people enemy to 

Internal colonialism is a notion of structural political and economic inequalities between 

regions within a nation state and clearly creates uneven effects of economic development 

on a regional basis known as "uneven development", and exploitation of minority groups 

within a wider society. The government is implementing this idea by controlling the 

following and other aspects to succeed on the matter.

The first one is by controlling the rule of low. As it is clearly stated in our constitution the 

low is the superior and everyone under the loe is equal. However, the exact opposite is what is 

implemented in our country. There is absolutely no rule of law since EPRDF came to power 

In addition to this, in our constitution and many international laws democratic 

government have three parts each with its own clear responsibility Executive Branch: 

acting as chief law enforcement, Legislative Branch: make the laws, Judicial Branch: 

Headed by the Supreme Court. Its powers include interpreting the Constitution, 

reviewing laws, and deciding cases involving states' rights.

These three groups are responsible for democratic situation of one country and provide check 

and balance in the system. Even though, this roles and responsible parts are clearly stated in the 

constitution, the actual scenario is far more different. The low maker the low enforcer and the 

low interpreter is one and the same which is EPRDF(TPLF).

The second one is by controlling freedom of Political Opposition parties. Major breaking event 

in peaceful political opposition took place in 2005 election. It was clear that people 

of Ethiopia were united and were ready for change. However, the action EPRDF took 

resulted to a total of 199 people (193 civilians and six policemen) and 763 were injured, 

and showed that EPRDF is not willing to negotiate in democratically. Since 2005 

election all political opposition are not free to exercise . Leaders and supporter of 

opposition political parties are facing arbitrary arrest torture and ill treatment from time 

In addition to this the government also controls Freedom of speech. To put it in simple 

words According to Human Rights Watch 2013 report Ethiopia is the second country in 

Africa in terms of the number of jailed journalist. According to amnesty international 

annual report in 2013 about Ethiopia it stated the state stifled freedom of expression, 

severely restricting the activities of the independent media, political opposition parties 

and human rights organizations. Journalist, activist and political leders who criticize the 

government are sent to jail with allegation of being terrorist like Ekender nega , Reyot 

Alemu,Yusuf Getachew Andualem Arrage and many more.

The government is also controlling freedom of each religion, religious places including their 

leader .In our constitution it clearly states that government and religion are separated and one 

could not interfere on the other. However, It reached to a point where peoples couldn’t practice 

there religion freely and a lot of religious leaders are dying and are in prison till this day, religious 

monasteries are being given to private investors while their leaders are forced to leave, we are 

seeing election of religious leaders taking place in woredas and kebele level .

In spite all the government is practicing Land Grabbing and Vigilization. TPLF has already 

gave Millions of acres of Ethiopia’s most fertile lands to foreign investors, often in long-

term leases. Peoples living for years are forcedly evicted to free up their land and resettle 

where they could not access adequate food, water and medical care. Peoples are being 

forced to become dependent on aid handouts having lost their land and their ability to 

produce their own food. The government has already moved 200,000 households into 388 

resettlement centers.

It seems like the government has already prepared a place for those who passes all the above 

limits which is called Maekelawi among the other prisons. On report of Land info in 2013 

about Ethiopia prison state that the exact number of prisons is unknown, but there are 

an estimated 120 federal and regional prisons. In addition to this, there are prisons 

and detention centers connected to police stations and on the woreda and kebele 

administrative levels. In 2010 it was estimated that 86,000 were imprisoned, but the 

figure is very uncertain prisoners facing serious abuse and intimidation. Being whipped 

with wires and electrical cords and threats of being injected with HIV-infected blood are 

some of the methods used.

These are some of the acts i mentioned here but there are more actions that proofs that Ethiopia 

was and still is under internal colonialism for the past 24 years by TPLF. As our previous 

father thought us we should be free of colony and for that we should unit ourselves. There are 

obviously two options to end this power once and for all. The first one is Peaceful opposition; 

however as history thought as in 2005 election and the act of TPLF today this is not the best 

The other option is to overthrow this regime by armed force. I believe we must use all possible 

means of struggles including armed forces this is the way the regime could be defeated and 

regain the previous name of Ethiopia. There for as responsible citizens we should all unite our 

selves to support every opposition parties and armed forces which believe in one Ethiopia and 

freedom of its people. Otherwise, only shame will be left for the next generation to refer as a 

MAY GOD BLESS ETHIOPIA!!!

መቀሌ በእሳት ቃጠሎ አደጋ ተናጠች

 

አብረሃ ደስታ ከመቀሌ እንደዘገበው፦ ዛሬ ሌሊት (ማክሰኞ አጥብያ) ህዳር 23/24, 2006 ዓም በመቐለ ከተማ ሰሜን ወረዳ 06 ቀበሌ የእሳት ቃጠሎ አደጋ ደርሶ 70 የFurniture and Metal works Workshops ሙሉ በሙሉ ወድመዋል። በዎርክሾፖቹ የሚተዳደሩት ከ250-300 የሚሆኑ ሰራተኞች የነበሩ ሲሆን በጠቅላላ ከ22 ሚልዮን ብር በላይ የሚገመት ንብረት ወድመዋል።

ማዘጋጃቤት መርዳት ባለመቻሉ ኗሪዎቹ ወደ አየርመንገድና ሲሚንቶ ፋብሪካ በመሄድ የእሳት አደጋ መከላከያ መኪኖች እንዲረዱ የጠየቁ ሲሆን የአየር መንገዱ በመጨረሻ አከባቢ ደርሷል፤ የሲሚንቶ ፋብሪካው ግን በቂ ዉኃ ሳይዝ በመምጣቱ ብዙ ንብረት ማዳን አልቻለም።የአደጋው መንስኤ ባከባቢው የሚገኘው የመንግስት የመብራት ትራንስፎርመር በመቃጠሉ ነው። ትራንስፎርመሩ ከሁለት ዓመት በፊት ጀምሮ የመቃጠል ምልክቶች እንደነበሩትና ያከባቢው ኗሪዎችም በተደጋጋሚ ለመንግስት አካላት ትራንስፎርመሩ እንዲጠግኑት ጥያቄ ቢያቀርቡም መልስ ባለመግኘታቸው ችግሩ መፈጠሩ ተጠቅሷል። ስለዚህ አደጋው ያጋጠመው በመንግስት አካላት ቸልተኝነት መሆኑ ነው።የእሳት አደጋው በቀላሉ መቆጣጠር ይቻል የነበረ ቢሆንም ሁለቱም የመቐለ ከተማ ማዛጋጃቤት የእሳት አደጋ ማጥፍያ ተሽከርካሪዎች ‘ተበላሸተው ጋራጅ ገብተዋል’ በሚል ምክንያት አደጋው የመቆጣጠሩ ጥረት አዳጋች አድርጎታል።

የመቐለ ማዛጋጃቤት የእሳት አደጋ ማጥፍያ ተሽከርካሪዎች ተበላሽተዋል ሲባል ገረመኝ። BTW, የተቃጠሉ ድርጅቶች ፎቶ ለማስነሳት ያደረግነው ጥረት በፖሊስ ሃይል ተከልክለናል። የመቐለው 06 ቀበሌ ‘የኢንዱስትሪ ዞን’ ነው።

በመንግስት ቸልተኝነት ምክንያት ንብረት ሲወድም ያሳዝናል።
